In A World Worth Saving, I connect prayer with acts of mercy and compassion, and I hope that you understand that when you read the book. Today I invite you to pray and act for the welfare of the people of the Philippines. Two of the agencies that are on the ground now are the Red Cross and The United Methodist Committee on Relief. The semi-legal description of The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) exists as a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to alleviating human suffering around the globe. UMCOR’s work reaches people in more than 80 countries, including the United States.
Far more than its legal description, UMCOR provides humanitarian relief when war, conflict, or natural disaster disrupt life and communities are unable to recover without assistance. UMCOR is a ministry of The United Methodist Church. Because it is a part of a larger organization, 100% of donations to UMCOR go for relief efforts.
UMCOR is working even now in the Philippines and will continue to deliver far more in the relief work. Here’s a link for donations: <https://secure3.convio.net/gbgm/site/SPageNavigator/umcor_donate.html?type=1002&project=982450 > Expect to see far more action from the United Methodist Committee on Relief.
Join the community of prayer for the people of the Philippines and join also in acts of compassion and mercy for those caught by this disaster.
